If you would like to donate to our scholarship fund, please contact Phyllis Erney, ACCA Treasurer at erneypd@gm.sbac.edu.

Please read all about our new fundraising effort:

Are you looking for an INSPIRATIONAL, FUN and FREE way to hype up your students to do their best on the FCAT? Or would you like to reward your students for a job well done on those tedious spring exams? If so, ACCA is sponsoring the new and up-and-coming Gainesville band “Dear Dakota” as they make their appearances in local high schools and middle schools around the county.
The guitarist and one of their founding members, Michael Gray, will be graduating from Newberry High School with his AA degree from the dual enrollment program at Santa Fe College. Drummer, Eric Milsaps graduated from Buchholz High School last year. All of the talented young men of “Dear Dakota” understand the pressure that students go through during this time of year and would like to send their positive message of never giving up and working hard to achieve goals. With their exciting and completely “student-friendly” show, your students will walk away energized knowing they can reach their goals and follow their passions.
All proceeds made from these concerts will go to support theAlachua County Foundation Scholarships and the Alachua County Counselors Association.
“Dear Dakota” has already performed at Oak View Middle School and was a SMASHING success! This is one event that is not stressful to set-up. We are more than willing to work with your school to help ensure that the event runs smoothly. “Dear Dakota” members are willing to help publicize the event at school by appearing on the televised morning announcements and/or providing flyers that can be duplicated to help promote the event. Sample cd’s are available for your listening pleasure! We can also help you plan the logistics if you need it. Dates are limited so if you are interested, please contact Anne Flenner, flenneal@gm.sbac.edu, (352) 472-1102 as soon as possible.

About the band, “Dear Dakota”

Dubbing themselves, "Pop-rock for the introspective", Dear Dakota's songs feature a wide variety of sounds that dare to evoke emotion through intellectual and sentimental subject matter that blend together to give the listener a unique and heart felt experience.
Having opened for The Steve Miller Band during this year’s Gator Growl, Dear Dakota has become a well-known name in Gainesville. Dear Dakota's fan base is rapidly expanding. Sink or Swim, the band's debut EP recorded at Chango Recording Studios, (Oceana, Broadway) is filled with catchy hooks and vocal harmonies, tight rhythms, deep emotional themes, and of course…the occasional breakdown.
